Ronald K. Brown is a singular choreographer who creates undeniably powerful works. Using African forms and rhythms, his kinetic style of storytelling is simultaneously spiritual and earthy, exploring the “subtle place between abandon and control” (The New York Times). For their Broad Stage debut, Evidence performs Grace, originally choreographed for Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, Come Ye, a tribute to the music and life of Nina Simone and Fela Kuti, and The Subtle One. Set to a recorded musical suite by Grammy-nominated pianist Jason Moran, The Subtle One is a potent new work that reflects on the presence of our ancestors and their profound impact on our lives.
